This feature allows travelers to reserve early check-in or late check-out slots in three-, six-, or nine-hour increments during the booking process. The company states that this system aims to replace on-arrival requests with confirmed, pre-booked time extensions.
MakeMyTrip mentioned that this offering is designed to cater to travelers who may arrive early after long journeys or leave late in the evening, situations where standard hotel check-in and check-out times do not coincide with travel plans.
The company has referenced internal booking data showing that a notable percentage of travelers arrive at their destinations before the usual check-in times or depart after typical check-out hours, particularly on both domestic and international flights.
In international markets, MakeMyTrip noted similar trends on short-haul routes such as Singapore, Bangkok, and Hanoi, as well as long-haul destinations like New York, where early arrivals are frequent despite standard hotel check-in times generally being set between 2 PM and 3 PM.
To facilitate this, the platform will also suggest early check-in or late check-out options during the booking process based on a traveler’s flight, train, or bus schedule. According to the company, this feature aims to provide guaranteed room access ahead of time and enhance hotel inventory utilization.
Abhishek Logani, Chief Business Officer – Hotels at MakeMyTrip, indicated that flexibility and guaranteed access are becoming increasingly important in booking decisions, alongside considerations of price and location. He also noted that the feedback from hotel partners has been favorable, and the company intends to expand this feature to more properties and markets.
MakeMyTrip has confirmed that this feature is available at partnered properties in India and selected international locations, including Dubai, Bangkok, Pattaya, Bali, and Kuala Lumpur.
