On Saturday, security forces neutralized two terrorists during an operation in northwest Pakistan, confirmed officials. The operation was conducted in response to intelligence reports regarding the presence of terrorists in the Akakhel, Madakhel, and Parakhel regions within the Bara tehsil of Khyber district, located in the unstable Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Authorities have stated that a follow-up search operation is ongoing to find any remaining terrorists in the vicinity.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has experienced ongoing instability due to militant activity, the movement of fighters across the border from Afghanistan, and various military campaigns over the years.
The government holds the banned group Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan responsible for the wave of terror attacks in provinces adjacent to Afghanistan following the collapse of a ceasefire agreement in November 2022.
