At the age of just 15 years and 65 days, Sooryavanshi emerged as the youngest winner of the IPL Orange Cap, breaking the previous record held by Sai Sudharsan at 23 years and 237 days in the last season.
The opener for Rajasthan Royals amassed 776 runs in 16 matches during IPL 2026, boasting an incredible strike rate of 237.30, outpacing Gujarat Titans’ Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan in the scoring charts. He also became only the second player from Rajasthan Royals to claim the Orange Cap, following Jos Buttler’s triumph in 2022.
Beyond the Orange Cap and MVP title, Sooryavanshi received several accolades at the final awards ceremony after the IPL 2026 finale, including Super Striker of the Season, Emerging Player of the Season, and Super Sixes of the Season. He had previously garnered the Super Striker award last season with a strike rate of 206.55, further enhancing it this year.
The teenager’s record-setting season featured 72 sixes, a rapid century off 36 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad, and numerous pivotal innings that propelled Rajasthan Royals into the playoffs. He established a new IPL benchmark by being the swiftest batter to reach 1000 IPL runs in terms of balls faced, accomplishing this in just 440 deliveries and eclipsing Andre Russell’s former record.
Sooryavanshi also became the first player to score 500 powerplay runs in a single IPL season and the first to hit this mark in any T20 tournament.
His exceptional performances during the playoffs included a stunning 97 off 29 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Eliminator, followed by an impressive 96 off 47 balls against Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2.
His consistent display throughout the season made him the highest-scoring uncapped player in a single IPL edition, while he also surpassed Chris Gayle’s record for the most sixes in an IPL season.
Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan entered the final with a theoretical chance to overtake him in the race for the Orange Cap, but both fell short, solidifying Sooryavanshi’s status as the season’s top run-scorer.
