When queried about the possibility of returning to the national team just before the title match, Patidar emphasized that his attention is solely on the current moment.
“I’m not anticipating any selection regarding India. So, I’m not focused on it,” Patidar stated.
Given his impressive IPL performance, where he scored 486 runs in 14 matches while leading RCB to their second consecutive final, Patidar’s name has surfaced in discussions about team selection.
He has been a vital part of RCB’s batting lineup, often stepping up in the middle overs and delivering essential boosts in scoring. His consistent performance and leadership have significantly contributed to RCB’s remarkable journey to the finals.
Regarding the fitness of Phil Salt, who sustained a finger injury last month, Patidar noted: “Currently, he’s at the nets, engaging in drills and batting. We haven’t made a decision yet; we’ll wait to see what the doctor and management decide.” On May 26, the Gujarat Titans secured their spot in the final and enjoyed a four-day respite before facing RCB on May 31. In contrast, GT had a busier schedule, having taken the longer path to the finals.
Commenting on RCB’s break after Qualifier 1 prior to the final, Patidar remarked, “Yes, after Qualifier 1, we had sufficient time to rest and recover.
“At the same time, GT is coming straight from Qualifier 2. There may be a slight advantage, but it’s not significant. Both teams are strong and have played excellent cricket.”
