Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections: Discover TVK's Surprising Victors — Meet Keerthana Sampath and N. Sunil Anand
The recent Assembly election outcomes in Tamil Nadu have unveiled some unexpected victors. Candidates lacking traditional political lineage or extensive visibility have remarkably achieved significant wins. These results highlight an emerging trend where grassroots efforts and direct voter engagement are becoming increasingly vital.

Among the noteworthy winners are Keerthana Sampath and N Sunil Anand, both of whom attained impressive victories despite coming from outside established political spheres.

Keerthana Sampath
A standout winner is Keerthana Sampath, who secured a commanding victory from Sivakasi. Previously the digital media lead at Showtime Consulting and a former political consultant with I-PAC, Keerthana shifted from strategizing campaigns to actively contesting in elections. She won her seat by over 11,000 votes, illustrating a unique transition from designing campaigns for others to becoming a candidate herself.

Lacking traditional political support, Keerthana constructed her campaign from scratch in just a few months. Her approach centered on direct voter engagement, as she walked through neighborhoods, addressed concerns, and fostered trust within communities.

Her previous experience managing campaigns, including those linked to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, equipped her with a thorough understanding of governance and strategy. Nonetheless, her campaign primarily aimed to connect policy-making with the real-world issues confronted by citizens.

Her continuous door-to-door outreach and grassroots involvement over the last year enabled her to cultivate a robust local presence, resulting in electoral success.

N Sunil Anand

Another representative of this trend is N Sunil Anand, an unexpected winner from Mettupalayam. Originating from Turuvekere in Karnataka’s Tumakuru district, he later made Mettupalayam his residence, where he built his career. With education up to Class 11 and a background in real estate and business, Anand embodies the archetype of a grassroots leader molded more by experience than formal qualifications.

A long-time supporter of actor-turned-politician Vijay and a proactive member of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, Anand gradually advanced within the party before stepping into the electoral arena.
