Washington: On Saturday, US President Donald Trump stated he was convening with his negotiators to evaluate Iran’s recent proposal, and he is expected to make a decision by Sunday regarding the potential resumption of hostilities, as reported by the US media outlet Axios.

Trump mentioned to Axios that it was a “solid 50/50” chance of either reaching a “good” agreement or choosing to “blow them to kingdom come.” He indicated that he would meet with special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to examine Tehran’s proposal. Vice President J D Vance, currently in Ohio, is anticipated to return to Washington for the discussions.

Pakistan’s Army chief Asim Munir was in Tehran to negotiate the details of the peace accord.
In Delhi, Secretary of State Marco Rubio remarked, “There’s been some progress made. As I speak, work is underway. There is a possibility that, whether later today, tomorrow (Sunday), or in a few days, we might have an announcement.” Rubio, on a four-day trip to India, stated the President has made it clear that Iran must never possess a nuclear weapon, the Strait needs to remain open sans tolls, and Tehran must surrender its highly enriched uranium.

Trump told Axios that he would only agree to a deal addressing aspects like uranium enrichment and the status of Iran’s current stockpile.

The US and Iran are in the process of negotiating a letter of intent aimed at ending the war and committing to 30 days of further detailed negotiations, Axios reported.

“I think one of two things will happen: either I hit them harder than they have ever been hit, or we are going to sign a deal that is good,” Trump stated.

He acknowledged that “some people would much rather have a deal and others would prefer to resume the war,” but dismissed the notion that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was “worried” about him reaching an unfavorable agreement.
