Bangladesh Secures 2-0 Series Victory Against Pakistan with 78-run Win in Sylhet Test, Despite Rizwan's 94.
Bangladesh achieved a 2-0 series triumph over Pakistan with a 78-run win in the second test held in Sylhet, despite a determined 94 from Mohammad Rizwan during a failed chase on Wednesday. Attempting to chase down 437 runs for an equalizing victory, Pakistan was dismissed for 358 during the morning session of the final day at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.

Captain Shan Masood and Salman Agha contributed 71 runs each, but it was Rizwan’s resilient innings, which included 10 fours, that kept Pakistan in contention until he was caught by Shoriful Islam. Left-arm spinner Taijul Islam took 6-120, clinching Bangladesh’s first series whitewash against Pakistan when Khurram Shahzad was caught at wide long-on.

Bangladesh asserted their dominance after player of the match Litton Das scored 126 in their first innings total of 278, followed by bowling Pakistan out for 232 to establish a significant lead. Veteran Mushfiqur Rahim then led Bangladesh’s second innings with 137, propelling them to a total of 390 and presenting Pakistan with a formidable target.
The tourists, however, fought back, entering the final day requiring 121 runs with three wickets remaining. Shoriful effectively put an end to their resistance when he had Rizwan caught at gully. “Our fast bowlers performed exceptionally well in sweltering conditions, on a placid wicket,” Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto remarked.

“That’s an area we’ve always aimed to enhance. In batting, we’ve occasionally lost too many wickets, but now we see remarkable partnerships emerging. Our tailenders also make significant contributions.” His counterpart Shan noted that Pakistan had “made many mistakes”.

“When you score 360 runs in the fourth innings of a match, you expect to be on the winning side.” “In test cricket, any mistake you make will be penalized. It’s ruthless… You won’t get any easy matches, and you truly must grind out results. I believe that’s what our team needs to focus on.”
