Krishnamurthy’s comments arrived as the political deadlock in Tamil Nadu seemed to dissipate, with Left parties offering unconditional support to TVK. The endorsement from Congress and the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) is anticipated to assist Vijay’s party in surpassing the majority threshold of 118 seats needed to establish the government.
“It’s still in the early stages,” Krishnamurthy noted. “TVK is a nascent party in power for the first time, and they have made numerous lofty promises.”
He pointed out that the party’s capability to govern effectively would soon be under the spotlight. “We are facing imminent drought conditions in certain regions of the state. How will they manage it? Farm loan waivers and other significant issues are on the horizon, which will be closely monitored,” he remarked.
As per Krishnamurthy, public sentiment strongly favors Vijay and TVK after the party emerged as a pivotal force within the state’s fragmented mandate. However, he warned that this goodwill could swiftly diminish if the government fails to meet expectations.
“If TVK succeeds in delivering, they will strengthen their position,” he stated. “Conversely, if they fall short, the magnitude of that failure will be critical to observe, along with public reactions.”
Senior Advocate Sanjay Hegde informed CNBC-TV18 that the governor is unlikely to prolong the government formation process, given the clearer support for TVK.
“I don’t anticipate further delays from the governor. Public pressure is quite significant,” Hegde remarked, adding that the extended uncertainty has lasted “as long as it could.”
Hegde also dismissed rumors about a potential alliance between the DMK and AIADMK aimed at sidelining TVK, labeling such a tactic as politically hazardous.
“Colluding merely to exclude the newcomer would be political suicide for both of those parties,” he asserted.
Krishnamurthy contended that the political uncertainties now lean more towards the AIADMK than TVK. He suggested that, should Vijay succeed in forming the government, Tamil Nadu’s political landscape might gradually evolve into a direct competition between the DMK and TVK, leaving the AIADMK in a vulnerable position.

“The AIADMK has a lot at stake,” he cautioned. “They lack a leader with the unifying charisma that Jayalalithaa possessed.”
These developments represent a significant political shift in southern India, while another pivotal change is taking place in the east. In West Bengal, BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari has been named as the leader of the BJP legislative party and is poised to become the next chief minister of the state. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and senior BJP figures are expected to attend the swearing-in ceremony at Kolkata’s Brigade Grounds on Friday.
Meanwhile, in Tamil Nadu, supporters of TVK celebrated as the Left parties, Congress, and VCK rallied behind Vijay’s assertion to form the government, effectively resolving days of uncertainty regarding who would make the first claim.
