Later, an unnamed Iranian military official asserted that the fire at Fujairah port was not an intentional Iranian strike and attributed it to “US military adventurism”.
“The Islamic Republic had no pre-planned agenda to attack the mentioned oil facilities; what occurred was a consequence of US military provocations aimed at facilitating illegal ship movements through the restricted waterways of the Strait of Hormuz,” the official communicated to Iran’s IRIB news agency, as reported by Al Jazeera.
“The US military should be held accountable for this. US officials must cease the improper practice of employing force in diplomatic relations and stop military provocations in this sensitive oil region, which impacts the economies of nations globally,” the official added.
