Exploring Iran's 14-Point Peace Proposal: What Sets It Apart from Previous Demands
Iran has presented a new 14-point peace proposal to the United States through Pakistan, reacting to the nine-point framework laid out by Donald Trump’s administration aimed at concluding the conflict in West Asia.

Here’s how it contrasts with previous peace proposals:

Aspect US 15-Point Proposal (March) Iran 10-Point Proposal (April) Iran 14-Point Proposal (May)
Timeline Two-month ceasefire End blockade before negotiations Resolve all matters within 30 days
Nuclear Program Close facilities (Natanz, Fordow), surrender uranium, cessation of enrichment Acknowledge enrichment rights; lift IAEA resolutions Deferred to “Stage 2”; no modifications
Strait of Hormuz Complete reopening as a free zone Complete Iranian control Lift blockade, establish a new Iranian-friendly framework. Parallel discussions, no preconditions
Regional Proxies/War Cease support for Hezbollah, Houthis, Hamas Permanent cessation, protect proxies (Hezbollah/Houthis) End conflict on all fronts (including Lebanon), safeguard proxies
Military/Security Restrictions on ballistic missiles Not explicitly mentioned Excluded
Sanctions/Assets Relief contingent on compliance Complete removal of US/secondary/UN/IAEA resolutions Unchanged from previous

The new proposal is less rigid than the earlier 10-point plan, which outright dismissed the peace framework in West Asia.
“Now it is up to the United States to decide between diplomacy or continuing a confrontational stance,” Gharibabadi told diplomats in Tehran, as reported by state broadcaster IRIB.

How the US Responded to Iran’s Truce Proposal

“I will soon be examining the plan that Iran has sent us, but I can’t envision that it would be acceptable given that they have yet to face a substantial enough consequence for their actions against Humanity and the World over the past 47 years,” Trump stated on his Truth Social platform.

As the deal remains unapproved by both parties, Israel has persisted in its strikes in Lebanon, resulting in three fatalities in the town of Sammaiyeh in the Tyre district.

The Israeli strikes have become a frequent occurrence despite the tenuous ceasefire established on April 17 in the Israel-Hezbollah conflict.
