Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla Approves Azharuddin and Kodandaram as MLCs
On Sunday, Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla appointed former cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin and retired professor M Kodandaram as MLCs under the governor’s quota.

This nomination as members of the Telangana Legislative Council was sanctioned by a government order.

The governor’s approval follows a significant delay, as Azharuddin, sworn in as Minister for Minority Welfare on October 31 last year, must secure election to the legislature by April 30, within six months.
This matter was also addressed during a meeting that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had with the governor on April 19.

Previously, Azharuddin had been nominated as an MLC under the governor’s quota by the state government in August last year.

Meanwhile, Kodandaram, instrumental in the Telangana agitation as the chairman of the Joint Action Committee of political parties, was nominated as an MLC for 2024.

However, the issue remains unresolved in courts, as petitions were filed by Sravan Dasoju and Kurra Satyanarayana—nominated during the BRS regime—challenging their rejection by former Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan.
