e-RaktKosh Launches New App: Digital Solutions for Online Donor Registration and Blood Tracking
A new mobile application is set to be integrated with the e-RaktKosh portal to simplify the online registration of blood donors, facilitate barcode-based tracking of blood bags, and enhance the management of donation camps, officials announced on Sunday, April 26.

Rajasthan Drug Controller Ajay Phatak mentioned that the upcoming “Blood Camp Management” application is being developed with the collaboration of the Information Technology and Communication Department.

“The app will enable donors to register online, provide health information, and receive confirmation of their eligibility to donate,” he stated.
This initiative is being implemented by the state’s Food Safety and Drug Control Department in partnership with the Medical and Health Department to alleviate the challenges faced by patients and their families in securing blood, according to the officials.

As stated, barcode tagging of blood bags and GPS tracking of thermoboxes will ensure monitoring of transport durations and storage conditions, which will minimize the risk of errors such as the transfusion of incorrect blood.

The application will also support automatic tracking of blood validity. It will be connected to the portal through API support provided by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing.

Food Safety Commissioner T Shubhamangala mentioned that the e-RaktKosh portal currently offers real-time updates on blood availability in registered blood banks, assisting patients in swiftly locating necessary blood types, including rare negative groups.
