Malta and Gozo to Welcome the 8th Commonwealth Youth Games Starting October 29, 2027
The eighth edition of the Commonwealth Youth Games is set to take place in Malta and Gozo from October 29 to November 4 next year. The Opening Ceremony will kick off on October 29, followed by six days of competitions from October 30 to November 4.

Participating events will include eight disciplines: swimming and para-swimming, athletics and para-athletics, netball, sailing, squash, triathlon, water polo, and weightlifting.

This upcoming edition will feature the most extensive para-sport program in the event’s history, expanding on the significant inclusion of para athletics during the previous Games held in Trinidad and Tobago in 2023. Additionally, this event will introduce sailing and water polo for the first time at the Commonwealth Youth Games.
“Malta 2027 promises an electrifying and competitive atmosphere, showcasing the heart of Maltese sport. World-class facilities will offer our young athletes a transformative experience, fostering inspiration and development among the stars of tomorrow,” stated Commonwealth Sport Chief Executive Katie Sadleir in a media release on Thursday.

Malta anticipates hosting around 1,200 athletes aged 14-18 from the 74 nations and territories of the Commonwealth. Venues for the events will include Cottonera Indoor Pool, Tal-Qroqq National Pool, Marsa Athletics Stadium, Marsa Sports Centre, Mellieha Bay, Gozo Indoor Sports Pavilion, and Marsalforn Bay.
