A total of 28 IPL match tickets, 8 mobile devices, and printouts of WhatsApp screenshots used for unauthorized online ticket sales, valued at Rs 4.53 lakh, have been confiscated from them.
“The officers and personnel from the Special Enquiry Squad of CCB executed an operation on April 5 during the IPL T20 cricket match at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, featuring Royal Challengers Bangalore against Chennai Super Kings. During the operation, cases were filed against individuals involved in the black marketing of match tickets within the jurisdictions of Cubbon Park Police Station and Chamarajapet Police Station,” the police stated in a release.
Seven cases were registered, resulting in the arrest of 11 individuals, they reported.
As per officials at Cubbon Park Police Station, 10 individuals involved in ticket black marketing were arrested, along with the recovery of 7 mobile phones, 18 IPL tickets of varying denominations, and WhatsApp screenshot printouts used for illegal online ticket sales.
In the Chamarajapet Police Station jurisdiction, one person was apprehended, with one mobile phone and 10 IPL tickets of various denominations, as well as WhatsApp screenshot printouts used for online ticket sale attempts retrieved from his possession.
Cases have been filed against the accused at Cubbon Park and Chamarajapet Police Stations, and further investigations are underway, police mentioned.
Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh, addressing reporters, stated, “They were buying tickets at the online rate and black marketing them at inflated prices… Going forward, we will monitor social media and related apps, taking action against those involved.”
