Assembly Elections 2026: Steps to Verify Your Name on the Voter List
The State Assembly Elections in 2026 are set for April, spanning four states and one Union Territory. The Election Commission of India will oversee the elections.

As per the schedule, on April 9, Kerala, Assam, and Puducherry will cast their votes, while Tamil Nadu will hold its elections on April 23. West Bengal will conduct polling in two phases on April 23 and April 29. Vote counting for all constituencies is scheduled for May 4.

In preparation for major elections, electoral rolls are updated to incorporate new voters, eliminate duplicate or outdated entries, and refresh voter details. This procedure is vital for ensuring transparency and precision in the democratic process.
To assist voters in confirming their registration, the Election Commission offers several convenient methods. Here’s a comprehensive, step-by-step guide to checking your name on the voter list for the upcoming elections.

Method 1: Check Your Name Online

The simplest and most common way to verify your name in the voter list is through the official voter services portal operated by the ECI.

Visit the official website of the Election Commission of India (ECI) and select “Search in Electoral Roll.” Users can check their details using their EPIC number (Voter ID) or by entering personal details such as name, age, district, and constituency.

Ensure you fill in accurate information to prevent errors. After submission, your details, including polling station, constituency, and serial number, will appear on the screen.

Method 2: Use the Voter Helpline Mobile App

An alternative method to verify voter status is via the Voter Helpline App, available on both Android and iOS devices.

After downloading the app from your app store, users can register and log in. They can then access the “Search Your Name in Electoral Roll” feature. By clicking this option, a new tab opens, and users must enter their personal details such as name, age, district, and constituency. Once completed, the results appear instantly, displaying polling station details, constituency, and additional information.

Method 3: Offline Verification

For those who prefer offline methods, voters may visit their nearest Electoral Registration Office (ERO) or designated voter facilitation centers. Printed voter lists are available at polling stations. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are present in many areas to help citizens check if their name is registered in the electoral roll. Political parties also set up assistance desks during the election season to support voters.

If a voter discovers that their name is absent from the list, they can contact their BLO officers or reach out to the voter helpline at 1950, which connects them to election authorities in their state.
