Xiaomi unveils YU7, its inaugural electric SUV boasting an 835-km range on a single charge.
Xiaomi has made its official foray into the electric SUV market with the introduction of the YU7. Launched in China, the YU7 marks Xiaomi’s second EV and its inaugural SUV, following the notable success of the SU7 electric sedan.

With dimensions of 4.99 metres in length, nearly 2 metres in width, and a long wheelbase of 3 metres, Xiaomi claims the vehicle prioritizes comfort and spaciousness. It features a large panoramic sunroof, a minimalist interior design, and offers up to 1,970 litres of storage capacity.

The YU7 presents a tech-rich cabin highlighted by a distinctive panoramic display system known as HyperVision. This display stretches over a metre across the lower windshield and can show everything from speed and navigation details to entertainment controls, all customized for different passengers. Additionally, there’s a dedicated remote control panel for rear-seat occupants.
The front seat comes with massage functionalities and a ‘zero-gravity’ recline feature, while the rear seats have the ability to tilt up to 135 degrees. The interior is adorned with soft-touch materials and Nappa leather that is certified safe for infants.

Underneath, the YU7 harnesses Xiaomi’s HyperEngine V6s Plus technology, capable of delivering up to 690 horsepower and achieving 0 to 100 km/h in merely 3.23 seconds in the Max version. The Standard variant boasts a class-leading 835 km range (CLTC) on a single charge, due to its 96.3 kWh battery.

Charging is impressively swift: utilizing its 800V platform, the vehicle can charge from 10% to 80% battery in just 12 minutes or gain 620 km of range in only 15 minutes.

The YU7 comes equipped with cutting-edge safety and driver-assistance systems powered by NVIDIA’s Thor chip. It includes LiDAR, 4D millimetre-wave radar, and numerous cameras and sensors to enhance visibility and detect obstacles, even in adverse weather conditions. It also supports over-the-air updates and is prepared for future integration with AI-driven driving models.

Variants, pricing, and availability

The Xiaomi YU7 is offered in three variants:

  • Standard: 253,500 yuan
  • Pro: 279,900 yuan
  • Max: 329,900 yuan

As of now, the YU7 is exclusively available in China. Xiaomi has not disclosed any plans for international availability, but the model’s specifications indicate it could pose a significant challenge in the global EV arena, particularly against competitors like Tesla’s Model Y.
