This choice stems from the tragic events on June 4, 2025, when 11 individuals lost their lives during RCB’s first IPL title celebrations.
The season will kick off quietly, featuring RCB against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the same location.
BCCI officials have confirmed that there will be no cultural or entertainment activities prior to the match.
Additionally, the lack of an opening ceremony is in line with various tributes planned for the occasion. Eleven seats at the stadium will remain permanently empty, and a memorial plaque will be erected to commemorate those who perished in the incident.
