West Bengal SIR: Election Commission Releases List of 5.8 Million Removed Voters; Here's How to Verify Your Name
The Election Commission (EC) published the names of deleted voters in West Bengal on Tuesday, December 16, alongside draft electoral rolls following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process in the state.

The EC provided reasons for the removal of names from the 2026 draft electoral rolls on its website.

The draft electoral roll is accessible through the official website of the West Bengal CEO, the voter portal of the Election Commission of India (ECI), and the ECINET mobile application.
Here’s how to verify your name in the electoral roll

Citizens can check their names in the electoral list via the ECI website or the respective state election commissions’ websites.

To confirm if your name is registered in the electoral rolls, follow these steps:

3. Click on ‘Search’ to view your voter information.

You can also go to the National Voter Service Portal (NVSP) at nvsp.in

2. Follow the prompts to enter either your EPIC number or your personal details.

3. Click ‘Search’ to retrieve your details on the portal.

Additionally, voters can download the electoral rolls from the EC’s website at ceowestbengal.wb.gov.in/Electors.

The list of deleted voters is available at the West Bengal EC’s portal link ceowestbengal.wb.gov.in/asd_sir.

Voters can select their districts and assembly constituencies to download the respective lists from the polling stations.

“Uncollectable” SIR enumeration forms; 57,000 names removed

More than 58 lakh SIR enumeration forms were deemed “uncollectable” and deleted because voters were absent from their registered addresses, had permanently moved, were deceased, or were identified as ‘duplicate’ voters across multiple constituencies, according to PTI.

Over 24 lakh voters were listed as ‘dead’, while 12 lakh voters could not be located at their registered address. More than 20 lakh voters were discovered to have changed addresses, and 1.38 lakh voters had duplicate entries. Names of over 57,000 voters were removed due to other complications identified during the enumeration process, as reported by PTI.

What to do if you encounter issues with the electoral roll

The commission’s website states that affected individuals can submit claims using Form 6 along with the Declaration Form. Supporting documents must accompany the form.

Concerns can be raised for one month until January 15, 2026.

The West Bengal Assembly elections in 2026 are expected to take place in the first half of next year across 294 constituencies.
