A hashtag from a two-day Uttar Pradesh Police conference surged to the top of global trends on X Saturday evening, garnering over 1.7 billion impressions, according to state officials.

The hashtag – #UP_Police_Manthan – was associated with a gathering of senior police officials led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Various police units throughout the state shared images, brief videos, and updates from the event via their official social media platforms, officials noted.

The initiative was executed under the guidance of Director General of Police Rajeev Krishna, as reported by PTI.

A statement released late Sunday noted that the hashtag reached the peak of X’s global trending list around 5:30 PM on December 28 and maintained that position for over two hours before gradually falling in the rankings.

No paid promotions were referenced in the official statement.

The conference, entitled Police Manthan, convened senior officers from all over Uttar Pradesh to discuss internal coordination, law enforcement priorities, and administrative issues. The event spanned two days, featuring both closed-door sessions and formal presentations.

During the conference, police units were directed to share verified updates regarding the event. These updates were subsequently amplified across district and unit-level accounts, generating substantial simultaneous activity linked to the same hashtag.

According to officials, this high volume contributed to the hashtag trending globally.

How UP police units shared content across the state

Experts in social media analysis indicate that trending on X is affected not only by the total number of posts but also by the speed at which content is generated within a limited time frame.

In this instance, numerous official accounts posted on a similar topic in a short span, resulting in a spike that the platform’s algorithm recognized as global-level engagement.

The state government remarked that the trend illustrated ‘public engagement’ with policing and governance initiatives. As of now, no independent verification has been made available for the impression figures.

By late evening, the hashtag had dropped off the global top list, coinciding with the conclusion of the conference.
