During the World Economic Forum in Davos in January, Uttar Pradesh secured significant investment agreements, including a ₹25,000 crore MoU with Essar Group. This represents one of the largest investments the state has acquired during the WEF. The funds will be allocated to crucial sectors such as power and energy systems, logistics and warehouses, and data centres.
SA Technologies will establish a Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Uttar Pradesh, providing IT services, digital solutions, and innovation support for large corporations while creating high-value jobs for the youth.
Uttar Pradesh aims to transform several cities through AI and IT initiatives. The selected cities for this transformation include Lucknow, Kanpur, Noida (Gautam Buddha Nagar), Varanasi, and Prayagraj (Allahabad).
Lucknow is set to become India’s first ‘AI City’. The initiative aims to develop all five cities into future hubs for IT and IT-enabled services (ITeS). This will also generate more technology-driven jobs and opportunities.
UP Industrial Development Minister Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’ emphasized that technological prowess will outline the future, asserting that Uttar Pradesh is poised to become a national and global leader in AI.
“AI leadership signifies global leadership, and our ‘double engine’ government is energized to spearhead the tech revolution worldwide,” he affirmed.
A 40-acre site near Lucknow airport, along the Lucknow-Kanpur highway, has been designated for the AI City project. This hub will provide a comprehensive ecosystem for investors and companies, including AI start-ups, data centres, data analytics, AI training, and data forensics.
UP is collaborating with premier institutions such as IIT Kanpur, IIM Lucknow, and APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University for these initiatives.
