The Jammu and Kashmir BJP unit celebrated the completion of the Udhampur-Baramulla rail link as a ‘historic moment’ on June 5, referring to the project as a “valuable Eid gift” for the people of the Union Territory.

“The Udhampur-Baramulla railway connectivity represents not just an engineering triumph, but also a beacon of hope, development, and national unity. This is indeed a historic moment for Jammu and Kashmir,” remarked BJP’s J-K spokesperson Altaf Thakur as reported by PTI. He noted that this ambitious rail project will transform travel in the region, enhance tourism, and create economic opportunities in remote areas.

“This is a testament to PM Modi’s dedication to the development and prosperity of J-K,” the BJP spokesperson added.

Thakur praised the project as one of the most significant infrastructure developments in recent history, stating that it will benefit individuals from diverse backgrounds, particularly those in remote and economically disadvantaged regions.

“PM Modi’s vision of linking Kashmir with the rest of India through modern transport networks is coming to fruition. The rail link is truly a priceless Eid gift for the people of J-K,” he concluded.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate on Friday the world’s tallest bridge over the Chenab river before dedicating the much-anticipated Kashmir rail service to the nation.

Following the inauguration of the Chenab bridge, Prime Minister Modi will also open India’s first cable-stayed Anji bridge and flag off Vande Bharat trains to celebrate the completion of the 272-km Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla railway link (USBRL), which will establish direct train connectivity between Kashmir and the rest of the country.
