UDF Leads Kerala Local Body Elections with 38.8% Vote Share, According to SEC Data
In the recently held local body elections in Kerala, the Congress-led UDF obtained 38.81% of the total votes, surpassing the CPI(M)-led LDF by over five percentage points, as indicated by data released by the State Election Commission on Friday.

A summary report on the 2025 local body elections issued by the SEC revealed that the LDF secured 33.45% of the votes, while the BJP-led NDA ranked third with 14.71% of the more than 2.12 crore votes cast.

In the six municipal corporations, the UDF captured 34.95% of the votes, slightly ahead of the LDF’s 33.67%, with the NDA accounting for 23.58%.

At the district panchayat level, the UDF achieved 39.17% of the votes, followed by the LDF with 34.02% and the NDA with 13.92%, as reported.

In municipalities, the UDF again led with 38.85% of the votes, while the LDF secured 29.88% and the NDA 14.40%, according to SEC data.

A comparison of ward-level results from the 2020 and 2025 civic polls demonstrated a notable change, with the LDF winning 1,227 fewer wards than previously, while the UDF realized a net gain of 3,082 wards.

The NDA also improved its standing, winning 320 more wards in 2025 compared to the earlier local body elections, as per the SEC.
