Trump labels UK's surrender of Diego Garcia as 'major folly,' defends Greenland purchase.
On Tuesday, January 20, United States President Donald Trump criticized the United Kingdom’s decision to transfer the island of Diego Garcia to Mauritius.

He labeled the move as “great stupidity” and defended the US plans regarding Greenland.

“It is shocking that our ‘brilliant’ NATO ally, the UK, is now set to relinquish the Island of Diego Garcia, a critical US Military Base, to Mauritius, and for absolutely no reason,” Trump expressed in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social.
“The UK’s decision to give up such vital land is a clear act of GREAT STUPIDITY, highlighting yet another reason of National Security why acquiring Greenland is necessary. Denmark and its European Allies must DO THE RIGHT THING,” he emphasized.

The US President went on to state that, in his second term, the US is gaining unprecedented respect in the international arena.

He also branded the UK’s actions as an indication of “total weakness,” asserting that both China and Russia would take notice of such decisions.

“There is no doubt that China and Russia have observed this act of total weakness. These international powers value STRENGTH, which is why the United States, under my leadership, is now respected like never before, just one year in,” Trump asserted.
