“I’ve been getting into trouble during practice with the guys,” Player of the Match David commented on the six.
“We hold competitions to see who can hit the roof during our sessions on the side pitches. So, to manage one in a match and send it to the roof was really enjoyable.”
Bengaluru has kicked off their title defense with a pair of consecutive victories, while Rajat Patidar also made a significant contribution, scoring 48 runs off 19 balls.
“Rajat was absolutely on fire, and I was just trying to support him to build our score and put pressure on the opposition,” he noted.
In pursuit of 251 runs for victory, the five-time champions Chennai finished with 207 before being dismissed with two balls remaining in their innings.
“If you look at the score, we were ahead until about five overs to go,” stated Chennai head coach Stephen Fleming.
“Then they just accelerated. That’s really where we lost the game.”
It marked Chennai’s third consecutive defeat, leaving them at the bottom of the standings.
RCB will face off against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati on April 10.
