This Season the Cup is Ours! RCB Secures First IPL Title in 18 Years, Defeating Punjab Kings by 6 Runs
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) triumphed over Punjab Kings by six runs in the final of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday. This victory marked Bengaluru’s first championship in the league’s history, ending an 18-year wait.

Given the opportunity to bat first, RCB experienced a rollercoaster innings right from the start. Virat Kohli emerged as the top scorer with 43 runs, but his innings were at a slow pace, taking 35 balls. Contributions came from Rajat Patidar (26), Liam Livingstone (25), Jitesh Sharma (24), and Mayank Agarwal (24), though none could convert their innings into substantial scores, leading to timely dismissals from PBKS. Arshdeep Singh and Kyle Jamieson each claimed three wickets, while Azmatullah Omarzai, Vijaykumar Vyshak, and Yuzvendra Chahal each took one wicket as well.
Phil Salt provided a solid opening for Bengaluru, hitting a couple of boundaries to accelerate to 16 off nine balls before being deceived by a slower delivery from Jamieson. Arshdeep took all three wickets in the final over of the innings.

PBKS suffered a significant setback when skipper Shreyas Iyer was dismissed for just one run in the 10th over. Romario Shepherd outwitted Iyer with a perfectly placed length delivery, which Iyer edged behind to wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma.

Krunal Pandya shone for RCB, giving away only 17 runs in his four overs while taking two wickets. Bhuvneshwar Kumar also played a crucial role in taking the key wickets of Nehal Wadhera and Marcus Stoinis during his vital second spell. Pandya displayed remarkable bowling skill, sending Prabhsimran Singh and Josh Inglis back to the pavilion, even though they had made solid starts.
