This development occurs as political parties in Tamil Nadu ramp up preparations for the Assembly elections set to take place in the first half of the year.
Call to set aside past differences
Earlier in the day, Dhinakaran stated that previous disagreements should not obstruct broader political goals, highlighting the importance of unity and reconciliation within the alliance, according to news agency ANI.
At a press conference in Chennai, Dhinakaran remarked, “With the larger objective in mind, we must not allow old issues to overshadow the party’s interests, the welfare of Tamil Nadu, or to be pushed aside. Making compromises for the common good does not weaken us.”
He emphasized the necessity for a collective effort among party members, saying, “As Amma’s cadres, who act as a unifying force, we will unite as one and stand firm to ensure that Amma’s governance returns to Tamil Nadu, restoring people’s governance and promoting good governance. That is our clear position,” as quoted by ANI.
NDA steps up campaign activities
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address a public meeting in Maduranthakam, located in Tamil Nadu’s Chengalpattu district, on January 23, as the BJP intensifies its campaign efforts in the state.

This rally is anticipated to serve as a formal campaign launch for the NDA in preparation for the Assembly elections.
During the event, Prime Minister Modi will deliver a special address, while AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami, GK Vasan, John Pandian, and leaders from other alliance parties are also expected to attend, as reported by ANI.
Electoral landscape taking shape
The NDA, led by AIADMK in collaboration with the BJP, aims to challenge the ruling DMK-Congress coalition in the upcoming elections.
The contest is likely to be triangular, following the announcement of actor-turned-politician Vijay’s party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), which has declared its intention to participate in the elections and claim leadership in the state.
With alliances being restructured and campaign events on the horizon, political momentum in Tamil Nadu is steadily increasing as parties prepare to unveil their strategies and manifestos in the coming months.
