The monthly cost for the household plan is set at ₹8,600, with the essential hardware kit—which encompasses the satellite dish, router, and other necessary tools—priced at ₹34,000, as per the latest information on the Starlink India site. New customers will also enjoy a 30-day trial period along with unlimited bandwidth.
The satellite internet provider has revealed key features of the residential plan, aiming to extend its services to rural regions of the country. Post-launch, the company plans to expand its presence nationwide.
Starlink’s website states that the services are designed to be ‘weather resilient’ and promise over 99.9% uptime, ensuring a stable internet connection. Users will benefit from the ‘plug-and-play’ setup, enabling immediate internet access without complex configurations once the hardware is in place.
Although the prices for the Starlink Residential subscription in India have been announced, details regarding the Business subscription plan remain undisclosed.
This official pricing announcement comes after several industry estimates that considerably undervalued the service. Previous reports suggested monthly fees ranging from ₹3,000 to ₹4,200, with a hardware setup cost close to ₹33,000, which aligns with Starlink’s pricing in other South Asian markets.
With its vast network of low-Earth orbit satellites already operational, Starlink claims it can offer reliable high-speed internet even in remote or underdeveloped areas of India, where traditional broadband options are often lacking.
While actual performance may fluctuate based on location, signal strength, and network traffic, official projections suggest internet speeds could range from 50 Mbps to 250 Mbps.
SpaceX, led by Elon Musk, seems to be actively pursuing entry into new markets, evidenced by its recent initiatives in India. Reports indicate there are numerous job openings at Starlink’s Bengaluru office, as well as efforts underway to establish ground-station gateways in various Indian cities including Kolkata, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Lucknow, and Noida.
