Robert Vadra called in Haryana land deal investigation, presents himself to ED.

ED calls in Robert Vadra for interrogation in connection with fugitive Sanjay Bhandari's case.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned businessman Robert Vadra, who is married to Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi, as part of an ongoing investigation into money laundering tied to a land deal in Haryana’s Shikohpur.

Vadra, aged 56, is required to present himself before the agency on Tuesday, April 15, according to a report by PTI. This marks the second summons in this case, following an initial one issued on April 8, which he failed to attend.

The investigation involves a land acquisition deal in Shikohpur village that has faced scrutiny for alleged irregularities during the tenure of the Congress-led government in Haryana.
Following the meeting, Vadra expressed that he is not intimidated by the government. “I will not be silenced by this government or any agency. I intend to respond to all inquiries,” he stated to ANI.

Earlier today, he walked from his home to the ED office, declaring, “There is nothing to the case. Over the past twenty years, I have been summoned fifteen times and interrogated for more than ten hours each time. I have presented 23,000 documents…”

Vadra’s statements are set to be recorded under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), according to officials.

“I’m uncertain about the fault. This is political vendetta, merely old allegations, and a misuse of agencies,” Vadra reportedly stated as he departed for the ED office.

“Every time I stand up for people and their rights, they attempt to stifle me… I have consistently provided answers and will continue to do so,” Vadra added, as reported by ANI.

DLF-Vadra controversy resurfaces

The investigation traces back to earlier allegations from 2011, when Arvind Kejriwal, an anti-corruption activist at the time, claimed that Vadra, brother-in-law of Rahul Gandhi, benefitted from an interest-free loan of ₹65 crore from DLF Limited and obtained favorable land deals in return for political favors, as reported by News18.

In response, DLF stated that all dealings with Vadra were conducted as part of standard business operations.

The real estate firm clarified that the loan was a “business advance” for land acquisitions and denied claims of selling properties at discounted rates or engaging in any quid pro quo arrangements.

Vadra, along with former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and DLF, have been under investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in a related matter.

This inquiry focuses on a 50-acre land deal in Amipur village from 2008, from which Vadra allegedly profited unlawfully, exceeding ₹50 crore. The deal occurred during the Hooda-led Congress government in the state.

“Gathering 23,000 documents is no small feat… No one is evading anything. I am present here today… I am looking forward to a conclusion. I await the outcome,” Vadra mentioned to reporters as he arrived at the ED office.
