As part of the transaction, leg-spinner Kuldeep Yadav will move to LSG.
LSG secured Pant for a record-breaking ₹27 crore in November 2024; however, the left-hander struggled to meet expectations as the team missed the playoffs in both seasons he led.
During his time with LSG, the left-handed batsman amassed 581 runs and only surpassed the 50-run mark once in 2026.
Last month, he relinquished his captaincy, and his return to DC signifies a comeback to a franchise where he played 111 matches from 2016 to 2024.
“Former Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant is poised to rejoin Delhi Capitals (DC), while Kuldeep Yadav will head to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), marking one of the most notable player trades in recent IPL history,” stated IPL’s official media advisory.
The advisory continued, “Pant returns to the franchise where he spent nine seasons from 2016 to 2024, making 111 appearances—the highest by any player for DC. A key figure for the franchise for nearly a decade, he also captained the team in 43 matches across four seasons from 2021 to 2024.”
