Punjab Kings’ skipper Shreyas Iyer received a penalty of 12 lakh for his team’s slow over-rate during their match against Gujarat Titans.

Punjab Kings secured a victory over GT by three wickets, marking a successful start to their IPL 2026 season.

“Since this was his first team’s offense of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, related to minimum over-rate infractions, Iyer was fined ₹12 lakhs,” the media release indicated.
Bowler Vyshak Vijayakumar and leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal collectively captured five wickets, restricting GT to 162 for six.

Despite a shaky batting performance, Punjab crossed the finish line in 19.1 overs, with young Australian batter Cooper Connolly making a remarkable contribution of 72 runs off 44 balls.
