PM Modi's Visit to Bihar: Launches ₹13,480 Crore Development Initiatives Before Assembly Elections
Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Madhubani, Bihar, to celebrate National Panchayati Raj Day and launched several development initiatives ahead of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. He also took a moment to honor the victims of the Pahalgam terrorist attacks.

“I request everyone to observe a moment of silence for a few minutes to pay tribute to the families we lost on April 22 (in the Pahalgam attack),” PM stated.

“Bihar is a place where Mahatma Gandhi emphasized the principle of ‘satyagrah’. He believed that India’s progress was only possible through the development of its villages,” the PM remarked.
PM Modi inaugurated and laid the groundwork for various development projects totaling approximately 13,480 crore. He was joined by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and other officials during the event.

“On this Panchayati Raj Day, the entire nation is united with Mithila and Bihar. Today marks the foundation stone laying and inauguration of development projects worth thousands of crores, benefiting both the nation and Bihar. These projects related to electricity, railways, and infrastructure will generate new job opportunities in Bihar,” Modi declared.

PM Modi also noted that the last decade has been pivotal for India’s infrastructure, stating that modern developments will fortify the ‘Viksit Bharat’ initiative. “Over 12 crore families have gained access to tap water, and 2.5 crore homes have been electrified. Those who never imagined cooking on gas now have gas connections,” he emphasized.

“In the past decade, over 5.5 lakh common service centers have been established, and 2 lakh gram panchayats have been connected to the internet,” he mentioned while addressing the crowd in Madhubani.

The Prime Minister additionally inaugurated four new railway projects in the state, including the Amrit Bharat express connecting Saharsa and Mumbai, and the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail between Jaynagar and Patna, as well as trains between Pipra and Saharsa and Saharsa and Samastipur.

PM Modi also distributed keys to beneficiaries of the PM Awas Yojana and is set to speak to Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) and Gram Sabhas nationwide.
