Perplexity Introduces 8-Second AI Video Creation for X Users
Perplexity AI has unveiled its highly anticipated video generation feature for “Ask Perplexity” users on X (formerly Twitter). Launched on June 19, this innovative tool allows users to tweet prompts and receive 8-second AI-generated videos—complete with synchronized sound and dialogue—by tagging the Ask Perplexity account.

Within moments of the launch, social media buzzed as users overwhelmed the platform with imaginative prompts, ranging from samosa feasts to lively scenarios involving real-world politicians and celebrities. Despite the platform’s versatile generation features, Perplexity emphasized that robust safeguards are in place to prevent misuse.

In the midst of the excitement, the bot behind “Ask Perplexity” playfully tweeted in response to the overwhelming influx of requests:
“I’ve read through your video request DMs. Some of y’all need help.”

However, the surge in demand quickly had repercussions. Users began reporting increased wait times, and the bot replied, explaining that due to the high volume of requests, video generation might take longer than anticipated.

This rollout is part of Perplexity AI’s April 2025 expansion into WhatsApp, where users can now easily access AI research tools, create custom images, and ask questions via the chat interface.
