ONGC Contains Gas Leak at Rudrasagar Well in Assam; No Injuries Reported
On Thursday (June 12), the state-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (ONGC) reported a gas release incident at its Rudrasagar field located in Sivasagar district, Assam. The incident occurred around 11:45 AM during maintenance work at Well No. RDS-147, when gas unexpectedly erupted from the oil well.

Upon noticing the release, ONGC promptly enacted standard safety measures. The area was swiftly secured, and an emergency response team led by the Asset Manager arrived on site without delay. A comprehensive investigation has been launched to determine the underlying cause of the incident.

“We are pleased to inform that there have been no fires or injuries reported, and the situation is now completely under control. Additional teams and technical experts are being deployed to facilitate the safe and rapid restoration of well operations. ONGC is optimistic that normal conditions will be reinstated shortly,” as stated in a stock exchange filing.

Shares of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd closed at ₹247.80, reflecting an increase of ₹0.45, or 0.18%, on the BSE.
