Nothing Phone (3) to Introduce ‘Glyph Matrix’, Replacing the Signature LED Strip Interface

Nothing Phone (3) to Introduce 'Glyph Matrix', Replacing the Signature LED Strip Interface
London-based consumer tech brand Nothing is taking a daring step away from its hallmark design aesthetic with the forthcoming Phone (3).

A teaser posted on X (formerly Twitter) has confirmed the introduction of “Glyph Matrix,” which will succeed the renowned Glyph Interface, representing the most substantial visual transformation in the brand’s smartphone collection to date.

The promotional video showcases a dot-matrix-style LED display located near the top left corner of the phone’s transparent back panel. Accompanied by the tagline “When light becomes language,” the preview hints at a transition towards a more dynamic and expressive interaction method.

While the Glyph Interface utilized segmented LED strips for notifications, charging indicators, and call alerts, the Glyph Matrix seems to adopt a grid-based arrangement. Nothing first teased this change in early June, during the announcement of the Headphone (1) launch.

Upon first impression, the Glyph Matrix resembles the ASUS ROG Phone’s AniMe Vision display, which features images, animations, and more for notification and customization purposes.

The new interface will be unveiled alongside the Nothing Phone (3) at the upcoming “Come to Play” launch event on July 1 at 10.30 PM IST.

Nothing Phone (3) anticipated specifications

Internally, the Phone (3) will be driven by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset. According to the company, users should expect a performance upgrade with up to 88% enhancement in GPU output, a 33% boost in CPU performance, and a 125% increase in AI-related capabilities compared to its predecessor.

The device is also set to receive five years of OS updates and seven years of security patches—the longest software support commitment for any Nothing product to date.

Other expected features include a 6.77-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 3000 nits of peak brightness. The phone will likely come equipped with 12GB of RAM, options for up to 512GB of storage, a triple rear camera setup featuring a 50MP main sensor, a 32MP front camera, and a 5,000mAh battery supporting 50W wired and 20W wireless charging.
