Meta appoints ex-Trump advisor Dina Powell McCormick as president and vice chair.
Meta, the owner of Facebook, has appointed Dina Powell McCormick, a former adviser from the Trump administration and seasoned finance executive, as president and vice chairman of the company.

Previously, Powell McCormick was on Meta’s board of directors, where she was notably involved in propelling the company’s artificial intelligence initiatives across various platforms. In her new role, Meta states that she will assist in shaping the overall strategy, including overseeing multi-billion-dollar investments.

The announcement made on Monday received immediate praise from U.S. President Donald Trump. In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, the Republican president described this appointment as a “great choice” by Meta’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg, emphasizing Powell McCormick’s “strength and distinction” during her service in the Trump administration.
Zuckerberg remarked that Powell McCormick’s global finance experience, along with her extensive relationships worldwide, positions her “uniquely” to support Meta in its future advancements.

With a substantial background in two presidential administrations and the Republican National Committee, Powell McCormick served as a national security adviser during Trump’s first term and held various roles in the White House and the Secretary of State’s office under President George W. Bush. She is married to U.S. Senator David McCormick, who held significant positions in the Commerce and Treasury departments under Bush before becoming CEO of hedge fund Bridgewater Associates.

Powell McCormick boasts a rich history in finance, having spent 16 years in senior roles at Goldman Sachs, and most recently served as vice chair, president, and head of global client services at merchant bank BDT & MSD Partners. She has also held several corporate board positions, including one at oil giant Exxon Mobil.

According to a securities filing, she resigned from Meta’s board in December, just eight months after her appointment as a director.

The integration of Powell McCormick into Meta’s management team comes as the California-based company seeks to enhance its relationship with Trump, who was previously banned from Facebook. Similar to other influential tech CEOs, Zuckerberg has dined with the president at the White House and reaffirmed substantial U.S. investment commitments worth hundreds of billions. Last year, the company also appointed UFC CEO Dana White to its board, another individual connected to Trump’s network.
