The robot, referred to as Figure 03, is a lifelike machine powered by artificial intelligence, designed to perform daily tasks and showcase the future possibilities of AI.
In a video shared by Melania Trump on X, the sleek, faceless robot in black and white can be seen moving mechanically beside the first lady. She captioned the video, “FOSTERING THE FUTURE TOGETHER. || 45 Nations || 1 Humanoid. || 1 Mission || Empower our Children. || The White House || 2026 Inaugural Global Summit.”

Throughout the event, the robot accompanied Melania into the venue, greeted attendees in several languages, and waved to the crowd.
Melania noted that this was her first American-made humanoid guest at the White House, and videos of their interaction quickly went viral, piquing interest in the robot and its functions.
“Figure 03, thank you for being here. It’s accurate to say you are my first American-made humanoid guest in the White House,” she was quoted as saying by NBC News.
Figure 03 was developed by AI robotics company Figure, a leading contender in the growing AI sub-industry focused on creating lifelike robots. The robot stands approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, is covered in a mesh fabric, and features cameras in its hands along with tactile sensors to help operators identify their targets.
The robot utilizes a vision-language-action (VLA) system, which enables it to process real-time data from visual sensors like cameras and apply AI reasoning to solve, predict, and complete tasks. It operates on the company’s proprietary VLA AI model, Helix, which allows it to understand and respond to voice commands.
In promotional materials, it can be seen performing various tasks such as doing laundry, loading dishwashers, folding clothes, and picking up items. Currently, the robot is not marketed for educational use or available for direct consumer purchase.
At the summit, aimed at discussing AI and education, Melania spoke to 45 female world leaders about the potential advantages of technology for young people, including the introduction of AI humanoid educators.
“Soon, artificial intelligence will transition from our mobile devices to capable humanoids that provide practical utility. Imagine a humanoid educator named ‘Plato.’ Access to classical studies is now instantaneous—literature, science, art, philosophy, mathematics, and history—humanity’s entire body of knowledge is at your fingertips in the comfort of home,” she stated.
