Nikhil Chaudhary, a professional cricketer originally from India, is currently making waves in Australian domestic cricket as an aggressive middle-order batsman and leg-spin bowling all-rounder.
He kickstarted his career in Indian domestic cricket with Punjab, debuting in the Inter State Twenty-20 Tournament on 29 January 2017, and shared the field with future international talents like Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma.
Chaudhary’s career took a dramatic turn when he moved to Australia during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Initially stranded on a travel visa, he juggled various jobs, including working in a restaurant and delivering parcels for Australia Post, while participating in club cricket in Brisbane. His outstanding performances in club cricket led to a contract with the Hobart Hurricanes for the 2023–24 Big Bash League (BBL) season.
In the BBL, Chaudhary has played in 20 matches, amassing 386 runs at a strike rate exceeding 134.00, along with taking nine wickets, demonstrating his all-around skills. He has made significant contributions, including a notable innings of 55 runs and impactful lower-order stands.
Chaudhary’s resilience led him to represent Tasmania in the 2025–26 Sheffield Shield, where he scored 367 runs at an average close to 46.00, featuring his first-class century and achieving a five-wicket haul.
Additionally, he garnered interest ahead of the IPL 2026 auction as an uncapped Indian player under current regulations, although he ended up unsold.
