During a guided tour, Messi explored various conservation and care facilities that house rescued big cats, elephants, herbivores, and reptiles. He engaged with caregivers and veterinary teams, witnessed clinical procedures at the multi-specialty wildlife hospital, and observed animals thriving under specialized care and rehabilitation programs. Additionally, he fed animals such as giraffes, rhinos, okapis, and elephants, and visited the Foster Care Centre for orphaned wildlife.
A highlight of the visit occurred at the Elephant Care Centre, where Messi interacted with Maniklal, a rescued elephant calf. The footballer participated in a fun, football-based enrichment activity with the calf, showcasing the importance of play in animal rehabilitation.
In a meaningful gesture, Anant Ambani and Radhika Ambani named a rescued lion cub “Lionel” in honor of Messi. Reacting to the visit, Messi expressed his admiration for Vantara’s efforts, describing its dedication to animal rescue and care as truly remarkable, and noted that the experience left a profound impression on him, expressing eagerness to return in the future.
