During a press conference, the party’s returning officer for the organizational polls, Ramchandra Purbe, stated that Prasad was the only candidate to submit his nomination papers the previous day, and they were deemed to be in order upon scrutiny.
“A formal announcement will be made on July 5 during the national council meeting, where Prasad will also receive his certificate of election,” Purbe mentioned.
In response, the ruling NDA in Bihar ridiculed the opposition party, asserting that Prasad’s re-election demonstrated that the 28-year-old RJD is “dominated by one family.”
JD(U) national spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan Prasad claimed in a statement that Tejashwi Yadav, Prasad’s son and presumptive successor, “frequently criticizes Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on moral grounds in politics, despite his family clearly lacking such values.”
Deputy Chief Minister and former state BJP president Samrat Choudhary posted on X, “With the re-election of Lalu Prasad for the 13th time, RJD has effectively established a monarchy. It is evident that the party prioritizes only him and his family, disregarding the interests of Dalits, backward classes, and upper castes.”
