Ranaut criticized Opposition MPs for their persistent disruptions in parliamentary proceedings over the previous year, arguing that their incessant shouting, jumping into the Well, and theatrical antics hindered the House’s effectiveness.
She remarked, “Perhaps except for the last two or three days, they completely obstructed the House from functioning,” and accused them of turning parliamentary sessions into mere spectacles rather than meaningful governance discussions.
On the topic of EVM tampering allegations, she ridiculed calls to revert to paper ballots, describing them as an “outdated relic of another era,” and claimed that Congress leaders refused to accept their electoral losses.
She took a jab at Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, expressing disappointment that instead of a “grand revelation,” she was only presented with metaphors involving “khadi, threads, and people.”
Ranaut further criticized Opposition MPs for displaying a photograph of a foreign-born woman during the debate, labeling it a breach of her personality rights.
“Every woman deserves her dignity,” she remarked, pointing out that the woman had clarified on social media that she had “never been to India” and had “no connection to the Haryana elections.” She extended an apology on behalf of the House.
Her comments escalated the existing tensions between the BJP and Congress, with the EVM issue continuing to overshadow the discussions.
Highlighting the Modi administration’s initiatives aimed at women, Ranaut referenced programs such as Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, the construction of household toilets, and the provision of free cooking gas connections.
She concluded by asserting that the Prime Minister’s electoral victories are a testament to public trust rather than any manipulation of the voting system.
