Jofra Archer included in England's preliminary lineup for the 2026 T20 World Cup.
English fast bowler Jofra Archer has been included in the provisional squad for the T20 World Cup set to occur in India next year. This comes despite a side strain that cut short his Ashes campaign in Australia this December.

The lineup also features pacer Josh Tongue. England will compete in three ODIs and T20Is in Sri Lanka before the global tournament begins.

“The Sussex speedster Jofra Archer has been named in the provisional T20 World Cup squad, but he will miss the Sri Lanka tour as he continues his rehabilitation with the England medical team following the left-side strain incurred during the third Ashes test in Adelaide earlier this month,” stated the ECB.
Batters Jamie Smith and Jordan Cox have been dropped, and seamer Saqib Mahmood has also lost his spot.
England has included Ben Duckett in both the T20 and ODI squads despite the opener’s ongoing struggles during the Ashes series.

The team, led by Harry Brook, will kick off their T20 World Cup journey against Nepal in Mumbai on February 8.

Currently, England trails 1-3 in the ongoing Ashes series against Australia, and their performance in the T20 World Cup could affect the future of their leadership, including coach Brendon McCullum and team director Rob Key.
