Describing the initiative as an attempt to create a “home away from home” for Italian enterprises, India’s Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal announced that these enclaves will feature Italian businesses, educational institutions, and healthcare facilities that recognize Italian health insurance plans.
Goyal made these remarks in Brescia, Italy, where he co-chaired the India-Italy Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation alongside Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani.
Previously, India had signaled its intention to create an investment enclave equipped with plug-and-play infrastructure for Swedish companies within industrial parks located along industrial corridors.
India has outlined plans for 12 industrial parks across 10 states aimed at enhancing domestic manufacturing, attracting foreign direct investment (FDI), and generating employment. The ₹28,000 crore proposal aims to secure investments totaling ₹1.5 trillion and includes plans for residential and commercial zones to promote the concept of a self-sustaining industrial city.
The anticipated industrial parks will concentrate on sectors such as electric vehicles, food processing, technical textiles, fabrication, aero logistics, and tourism. The government has already completed land acquisition and several regulatory approvals to prevent delays.
These industrial parks are expected to be established in 10 states, including Khurpia in Uttarakhand, Rajpura-Patiala in Punjab, Dighi in Maharashtra, Palakkad in Kerala, Agra and Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh, and Gaya in Bihar, among other locations.
