Rajat Patidar won the toss and elected to have Hyderabad bat first, with Jacob Duffy setting the early tone by taking three wickets in his four-over spell for just 22 runs.
The left-handed batsman, typically troubled by the short ball, succumbed to his frustrations when his awkward pull shot off Duffy was caught by Jitesh Sharma.
Earlier, RCB wasted a DRS review for a caught behind appeal against Abhishek off Duffy in the very first over.
Travis Head and Nitish Kumar Reddy also struggled to handle Duffy’s deliveries, leading SRH to a precarious 29 for three in just 4.2 overs, with the visitors finishing the Power Play at 49 for three.
However, Kishan remained unfazed by the situation or the opposition, demonstrating commendable confidence.
He brought up his fifty in 27 balls with a four off leg-spinner Suyash Sharma, showcasing some spectacular hitting along the way.
Abhinandan Singh faced the brunt of his onslaught, as Kishan launched him for 6, 4, and 6, while spinner Krunal Pandya was also dispatched for two sixes in a single over.
A massive shot over third man off Abhinandan propelled Kishan to 80, putting him on the brink of a century.
However, the fast bowler had the final say as Kishan fell to an extraordinary one-handed catch by Phil Salt near deep backward point.
This catch is likely to be among the season’s best.
Kishan’s dismissal dampened SRH’s momentum during the death overs, even as Aniket Verma (43 off 19 balls), who was dropped by Virat Kohli at 26 off Bhuvneshwar Kumar, contributed significantly down the order. Nevertheless, Hyderabad managed just 59 runs in the last five overs.
