Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei asserts a symbolic triumph, stating that the US received a 'serious setback.'
In his first public statement following the ceasefire that concluded the 12-day conflict between Iran and Israel, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei conveyed a resolute message, declaring a symbolic triumph over both Israel and the United States.

Khamenei claimed that Iran had delivered a “severe blow” to the US, which he accused of intervening solely to safeguard its ally Israel from defeat.

He hailed Iran’s missile attack on the Al-Udeid US Air Base in Qatar as a successful operation showcasing Iran’s military reach and capability. He cautioned that any future aggression from the US would provoke a similar or even stronger response, asserting, “The Islamic Republic can access key US centers in the region and take action whenever it sees fit. Such actions will be repeated.”

The leader rejected US claims of strategic success, notably those voiced by US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who contended that Iran’s nuclear capabilities had been significantly damaged.

Khamenei argued that although US B-2 bombers targeted Iran’s Fordow nuclear facility with

bunker-buster bombs, the assaults did not materially affect Iran’s nuclear expertise. He characterized the strikes as breaches of international law and demanded accountability.

Khamenei also took issue with Trump’s rhetoric, accusing him of inflating the conflict’s results for political advantage. “Anyone who has heard these remarks understands that another truth lies behind them,” he noted, indirectly criticizing Trump.

Regarding Israel, Khamenei claimed that the Zionist regime was “crushed under the pressure of the Islamic Republic,” despite its elimination of numerous senior Iranian officials, including IRGC Commander Hossein Salami and leading nuclear scientists. Iran reported more than 620 deaths from Israeli missile assaults during the conflict.

He congratulated the Iranian populace on what he described as a victory over both the “deceptive Zionist regime” and the US. Khamenei highlighted Iran’s tenacity and steadfast refusal to yield, reaffirming the nation’s commitment to pursue nuclear research for peaceful purposes.

As tensions persist, the international community is closely monitoring developments, particularly with regards to regional stability and the future of Iran’s nuclear program.
