This is the second hint from Apple’s software in a short period. Last month, another Apple update replaced the term “AirPods Pro 2nd Generation” with the more future-oriented “AirPods Pro 2 or later,” intensifying speculation about a new version.
Although the code does not disclose any fresh features or design alterations, the direct reference to “AirPods Pro 3” adds credibility to previous reports indicating that the earbuds may debut this fall. Apple generally reveals major hardware in September alongside new iPhones, and current indications suggest that the AirPods Pro 3 could be included in that announcement.
This latest leak also raises questions about earlier forecasts from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who indicated that the next-gen AirPods might not debut until 2026.
With iOS 26 anticipated to launch around mid-September, an official announcement for the AirPods Pro 3 may be imminent.
