While Notes has allowed music sharing since the previous year, this latest update reflects users’ current listening habits in real-time, displaying the track title and artist as the song plays. This feature enhances Instagram’s partnership with Spotify, which started with the introduction of an “Add to Spotify” button.
Additionally, Instagram is rolling out a long-awaited feature: the ability to rearrange posts in the profile grid. This update enables users to manage their posts without deleting or archiving older ones, facilitating the curation of a personal or professional aesthetic.
Mosseri noted that the platform is exploring a method to allow users to post to their profile “quietly” without alerting everyone in their feeds — a strategy aimed at alleviating the pressure associated with public sharing.
These modifications are part of a larger initiative by Instagram to inspire users to “take creative chances,” especially as the platform celebrates its 15th anniversary.
The updates are complemented by additional measures to support creators. Instagram has made Trial Reels accessible to everyone, allowing users to preview their Reels with non-followers first. According to internal data, this has resulted in increased posting and broader reach for many creators. The company is also working on its Edits app — a mobile video editing tool enriched with AI features like the new “restyle” option that quickly transforms a video’s look and feel.
Instagram is also introducing Drafts, a new initiative to fund and support emerging creators. This program will offer financial assistance, creative collaboration, and mentorship to up-and-coming artists, including Tyrell Hampton, Young Emperors, and Sailorr. Moreover, a new Stories and Reels font, inspired by singer Rosalía’s handwriting, is being rolled out to add a more personal touch to visual storytelling.
