Indian Woman Fatally Stabbed in Maryland; Ex-Boyfriend Escapes to India
A 27-year-old woman from India, who disappeared in the United States around New Year, has been found deceased, with authorities alleging her ex-boyfriend is responsible for her murder and has fled to India.

The victim, identified as Nikitha Godishala, was a data and strategy analyst residing in Ellicott City, Maryland. According to the Howard County Police, her body was located in an apartment owned by Arjun Sharma (26), her former boyfriend, as reported by NDTV.

Godishala was last seen on December 31, New Year’s Eve. Sharma reported her disappearance to the police on January 2, claiming he had last seen her at his apartment.
However, the case took a significant turn the following day when detectives executed a search warrant at the same apartment. On January 3, police discovered Godishala’s body with multiple stab wounds.
Investigators now suspect that Sharma killed her shortly after 7 pm on December 31. By the time the body was discovered, Sharma had already left the United States. Police confirmed that he boarded a flight to India on the same day he reported her missing.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Sharma, charging him with first and second-degree murder. While the investigation continues, officials have indicated that a clear motive has yet to be established.

The Indian Embassy in the United States has acknowledged the case and confirmed its involvement. The embassy is coordinating with local authorities and is in contact with Godishala’s family, offering all available consular support.

US and Indian officials are currently working together to locate and apprehend Sharma, according to NDTV. Although both nations have an extradition treaty, such cases typically require lengthy legal and diplomatic processes that can span months.
