India ranks as one of the top five source markets for passenger traffic at Singapore's Changi Airport.
India ranked among the top five in passenger traffic and cargo volume for Singapore’s Changi Airport, which introduced Vijayawada as a new destination for airlines last year, the airport operator announced on Thursday.

In 2025, Changi Airport, serviced by around 100 airlines, achieved a record 69.98 million passenger movements, marking a 3.4 percent increase from the previous year, according to the Changi Airport Group (CAG).

The leading passenger markets for 2025 were China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Australia, and India, the report noted.
In 2025, Changi Airport expanded its global connections by adding 13 new city links—a milestone for network enhancement, CAG stated.

The new destinations include: Changchun, Harbin, Lanzhou, Yichang, and Zhangjiajie in China; Labuan Bajo, Padang, and Semarang in Indonesia; Vienna (Austria); Vijayawada (India); Kota Bharu (Malaysia); Ulaanbaatar (Mongolia); and Nha Trang (Vietnam).

As of January 2026, approximately 100 airlines offer more than 7,300 weekly scheduled flights from Changi Airport, linking Singapore to over 170 cities across 50 countries and territories, according to CAG.

Aircraft movements, encompassing both landings and take-offs, increased by 2.2% year-over-year to 374,000 movements.

Airfreight throughput reached 2.08 million tonnes in 2025, surpassing the previous year’s figures by 4.5%.

This positions it among the top cargo performances in Changi Airport’s history, as stated by CAG. The primary air cargo markets were China, the United States, Australia, Hong Kong, and India.

December 2025 saw the highest traffic month of the year, achieving 6.3 million passenger movements. The peak day was December 20 – the Saturday preceding Christmas – when over 223,000 passengers traversed Changi’s terminals, it reported.

CAG CEO Yam Kum Weng remarked that Changi Airport’s impressive results occurred amidst “a volatile global environment.”

“With the growing travel demand in Asia, Changi is actively pursuing network expansion in the region, focusing on emerging secondary cities that are experiencing swift economic growth and promising tourism advancements.

“As we step into 2026, we are excited about creating new opportunities for airlines and businesses. CAG will also persist in enhancing the traveller experience through increased innovation to achieve higher efficiencies and more seamless operations.”
