During the opening ceremony of the 72nd National Volleyball Championship, conducted via video conference, Modi remarked, “Over the past decade, more than 20 significant international events have taken place in several cities, including the U-17 FIFA World Cup, the Hockey World Cup, and prominent chess competitions.”

“The 2030 Commonwealth Games will be hosted in India. We are preparing wholeheartedly to welcome the 2036 Olympics,” stated Modi.
The championship, scheduled for January 4 to 11, will feature over 1,000 athletes, representing 58 teams from across the nation.
“The event is anticipated to highlight exceptional competition, sportsmanship, and talent within Indian volleyball,” a release mentioned.
“Hosting the National Volleyball Tournament in Varanasi emphasizes the increasing focus on enhancing sports infrastructure and fostering athletic growth in the region,” it added.
