Iran-US-Israel War Live News Updates: The conflict in West Asia reaches its fourth week as Trump postpones strikes on Iran, Abbas Araghchi dismisses US proposals, and Pakistan steps in as mediator amidst rising tensions.
US President Donald Trump has opted to delay intended strikes on Iran’s energy facilities for an additional 10 days, extending the pause until April 6. This decision comes as Washington asserts that negotiations with Tehran concerning a potential peace agreement are advancing positively.
Trump noted that the discussions were proceeding “very well,” indicating that the US administration is still considering diplomatic avenues despite the ongoing military escalation.
However, Iran has declined a US-supported proposal aimed at ending the conflict and has instead presented its own counterproposal. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has dismissed the prospect of direct talks with Washington, asserting that negotiations will not commence until Tehran’s conditions are met. In a statement on state television, Araghchi remarked that discussions would be premature at this juncture of the conflict.
Despite this position, the United States has characterized ongoing communications with Iran as “productive,” although Tehran maintains that indirect exchanges do not constitute formal negotiations.
In the meantime, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar confirmed that Islamabad is facilitating communications between US and Iranian officials as part of mediation efforts, with support from Turkiye and Egypt.
On the ground, confrontations persist across various regions. Iran has claimed it compelled a US aircraft carrier group to alter its position, while Israel reported that it conducted “wide-scale” strikes aimed at multiple sites in Tehran.
